Introduction

Deep beneath the icy peaks of the Crystalspeak Mountains lies Kazza Doom, a sprawling mega-dungeon that defies imagination. Once the crowning achievement of dwarven ingenuity, this vast complex now stands as both a treasure trove of lost knowledge and a looming threat to the world above.

As you descend into its depths, you'll navigate through halls where dwarven craftsmanship meets arcane technology, face creatures born from the collision of worlds, and unravel mysteries that span eons. But beware - with each level you explore, the line between heroism and madness grows thinner.

The United Arcane Consortium's relentless pursuit of power has awakened something that should have remained dormant. Now, as the boundaries between realities crumble, Kazza Doom beckons to those brave or foolish enough to answer its call.

The Project

Kazza Doom is my ongoing mega-dungeon creation project, a labor of love that blends classic dungeon crawling with cosmic horror and cutting-edge magical technology. The name blends elements of Tolkien's Khazad-dûm and the video game DOOM, and themes found in both of those works find their way into this mega-dungeon.

This website serves as a living journal of my creative journey, where you'll find:

  • Works-in-Progress: Currently, the outline for the various levels is done, and I'm focusing on the starting area of the great dwarven complex known as The Hall of Echoes.

  • Behind-the-Scenes: Dive into my creative process, from the initial spark of the Aetherglow concept to the challenges of balancing gameplay and narrative.

ABOUT the author

I started playing D&D back in 1984 after I pestered my father incessantly to buy me the D&D Basic Rules red boxed set. My first character was a magic-user, and my dagger dealt 1d6 damage because I had no idea how to read the d4. Years later, I learned how to use the d4 correctly, moved on to other character classes. I gradually spent less time as a player, and more time as the game master. I didn't know it at the time, but I was falling in love with storytelling and improv.

 

I’ve since spent thousands of hours exploring the Forgotten Realms and other places of my imagination. From 2009 - 2011 I hosted the ENnie nominated gaming podcast Flagons & Dragons, and my writing credits include adventures and supplements for the Dungeon Crawl Classic and Swords & Wizardry game systems.
